By Elevator or Stairs? Guided Tour of the Exhibition The Woman Question 1550–2025
We invite you to a guided tour from the By Elevator or Stairs? series, focusing on the exhibition The Woman Question 1550–2025.
The tour will use the exhibition Women Artists 1550–1950, which opened in 1976 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, as a point of reference. Its curators were art historians Linda Nochlin and Ann Sutherland Harris. It was a groundbreaking exhibition for the history of thinking about women's creativity, as well as for feminist curatorship. The exhibition featured works by artists who can also be found in The Woman Question 1550–2025 exhibition. During the tour, we will highlight these artists and also examine the differences between the two curatorial concepts. We will ask how the history of women's art has changed since the 1976 exhibition.
Hosted by: Wanda Węcowska
